Peach Pie

Image
My hubby will be the first to tell you that I may not be the best cook, but I can make a MEAN peach pie. No really. If we could only eat one thing for the rest of our lives, I am pretty sure this is what we would choose. I dont even like pie, but this... This is something else entirely. So today I am going to share with you my secret recipe along with some tricks to make it even better. I've included instructions in most of the images and the recipe in its entirety is found at the bottom of this post, but I'll be sharing some tricks with each step as well. So get ready to make the most glorious treat known to mankind, get set... GO! Peach Pie   Step 1: Pre-bake your pie shells. I have never made pie crust from scratch, but if I did, I am sure it'd only make this decadent dessert a million times better. In the meantime, I'll stick to Marie Calendars pie shells in the frozen section of the grocery store. Just follow the directions on the package and allow to cool. Step 2:...

Valentines Themed Food

Valentines Themed Food I always love making themed food for the holidays, especially for the little ones. It's so magical and since I'm cooking anyway, might as well make it fun for all of us! Poppy even said it was the best dinner she's ever had. {So score one for mama!} This year we made: pink and red heart pancakes, heart shaped eggs, sausage, pink milk and butter syrup and of course... strawberries! Brrr... Furthermore if you are planning on taking photos, do it before it gets dark outside. Anything tastes better if its dyed pink or red, especially syrup and milk.   This syrup is absolutely heavenly! It goes pe...

Homemade Tootsie Rolls

Image
One of my favorite things to do growing up was to make Homemade Tootsie Rolls with my family. We would put on our aprons, turn on a movie (it seemed like it was always The Swan Princess. Remember that one?) and go to town! We'd love getting messy and seeing our efforts turn into something perfectly delicious. This Valentines Day I thought this would be a fun gift to give our loved ones plus I wanted to share the tradition with my little ones. Ok and I was having some major pregnancy cravings... so sue me! Anyway, we decided to make a day out of it. (Heaven knows we would need a whole day!) After one broken bowl, two messy girls and  a lot of patience, we ended up having a blast. I'm so thankful for my cute little kitchen helpers.  Homemade Tootsie Rolls (More details below recipe)  Combine dry ingredients- Combine wet ingredients- Watch out for flying sugar- Combine the wet and dry ingredients together and squish with your hands- If you're baking with the kids...
