My Pregnancy Essentials

Image
Not sure what the pregnancy essentials are? You dont need as much as you'd think. My pregnancy essentials are a bit different this time around since technically, you can get away with not having a whole arsenal at your disposal. Especially now that I've been pregnant twice before, I'm realizing there are things I dont particularly need but other ladies couldn't do without, and vice versa.  Since you dont really need much, I suggest taking the money you save and get yourself a cute maternity outfit so you feel smokin hot, or get your hair done, or even some eyelash extensions , because you're growing a flippin human being so I say... treat yo'self! My Nine Pregnancy Essentials and why I need them:     1  Crude Oil   I have broken out like CRAZY this pregnancy and since you can't use a lot of products because of the drugs involved, I found that Crude Oil is a natural way to clean and hydrate my skin. It feels amazing on my face and ke...

How to Make Mommy Friends

Image
Mom's Need to Make Friends Too! Let me tell you a  little story; once upon a time, before I became a mom, I had a lot of friends. Making friends always came naturally to me. High school was easy and college was wonderful, friends and roommates were like family, they were the ones I spent most of my time with after all. Then I fell in love and man oh man those were such fun times. We still had our group of friends, but our little world mostly consisted of just us (as it should be.) We got married and moved away from our college life and closer to our family. It was wonderful , but over time we kind of forgot how to make friends. Then, the hubby got accepted to Pharmacy school over a thousand miles away and we were set to move just three short months after our first baby would be born. I was not the happiest camper, I had no idea how to make mommy friends. The idea of being away from my mom after just having a baby scared me. Not knowing how to make mommy friends...

Woodland Party Ideas

Image
An oldie but a goodie...Even though it was two years ago, how could I NOT post photo's from this woodland party? I mean come on!... It was so magical!! Woodland Party Inspiration: We were lucky enough to have my mom and dad host us in their backyard. I'm sure I've mentioned this lovely house before, so it just seems crazy to host parties and get-togethers anywhere else, especially a WOODLAND party. No place better.    Last Christmas my mama made the darling teepee and these days, you cant go wrong with a teepee as decor. Oh and twinkle lights... gotta LOVE the twinkle lights.    The Birthday Girl I know I am bias, but man she is cute! Make sure to get lots of photos. She got a new red riding hood cape from Nanny and of course we did a whole other photo shoot of her in the back yard before everyone showed up.  Like our Magical Destination Sign? Learn how to make one here !  Who doesnt love pony rides at a party? I know this was probably overkill and co...

11 Differences in My Third Pregnancy

Image
By now, I would say that I am a pro at being pregnant. Considering I've been pregnant 25 months in the past 3.5 years, I'd say that's a pretty fair statement. Although I'm not naive enough to say that this third pregnancy has been a breeze, I do feel like I'm not as surprised by anything anymore. Well except the whole being 25 months pregnant thing... Wow! 11 Differences in My Third Pregnancy It goes by MUCH faster. The first time around seemed to last forever because I spend almost every waking moment thinking about it. This time around however, I'm much more distracted with two little ones and am lucky to even get a moment to enjoy those little kicks and turns. How you carry. I'm not sure if there's a difference between how I'm carrying this time around because it's a boy, or if it's because it's my third and its a bit roomier in there, but this time I seem to be carrying much lower than the other two. My doctor said that it's...

Tips for Handling Night Frights

Image
Night frights, or night terrors, are never a pleasant experience. If you are a parent who has experienced these, you know just how awful, absolutely exhausting, frustrating and heart-breaking it can be. Since experiencing them with our little Poppy, I took to the internet to figure out the best way to help her cope but all the information I found seemed to contradict each other or just didn't work for us. If you don't know, or would just like to be educated on night frights, a night fright is where a child wakes up in the night and seem to be awake, but cannot snap out of what seems like a nightmare. They may scream, cry, thrash around the bed. It ain't pretty.     What Caused Her Night Frights: We started to notice that she had them when she had a particularly busy or active day, or when she was overly tired. She also seemed to have them when she'd be going through a growth spurt. Some nights we could anticipate her having them because of her activity or schedule fr...

Eyelash Extensions: Pro's and Con's

Image
I first jumped on the eyelash extension bandwagon a little over a year ago when my {past} princess business was in full swing and I was doing multiple parties a weekend. I would always wear fake eyelashes, but didn't always like how they felt on my eyes and couldn't wait to be done for the day so I could rip those suckers off! I thought I'd give the eyelash extensions a go and see how I liked them. I wasn't completely sold on them at first, but not too long after trying out a few sets, I was expecting our second baby and really started to fall in love with them.   Pro's of Eyelash Extensions Your makeup routine is cut in half! I don't like to wear a ton of makeup on a day to day basis since most the time I'm entertaining little ones, but when I had eyelash extensions, sometimes I didn't do ANYTHING to get ready and still was presentable in public. Bangerang. You feel beautiful and feminine Enough said. I love feeling pretty and girly. I feel like ...

How to Reset a Bad Day

Image
We've all been there... You know those days where you need a button to reset a bad day because your kids are testing your every limit, you  can just feel yourself about to SNAP! (Maybe you already have-- I've totally been there!) Then you are overwhelmed with guilt and just know that you're the worlds worst parent and nothing will ever be alright again and you're sure your children hate you and they will probably end up in jail someday because you just weren't good enough. Too much? Yeah, it's pretty dramatic, but seriously, we've ALL been there! Since I'm pregnant right now, I feel like these 'terrible, horrible, no good very bad days are more common than normal since my hormones are crazy and I take everything personally. Yesh... But on the plus side, I've learned some valuable things! The biggest thing being that it's NEVER too late to start the day over. Ever. In fact, I promise that if you consciously choose to 'reset' your mind,...

What to do with Your iPhone Videos

Image
If you are like me, you have tons and tons of random iPhone videos of different events, parties, outings etc. that you arent quite sure what to do with. You want to keep those memories, but a ton of small individual snippets of video can use up all the storage on your phone, and will most likely end up in an untouched folder on your computer never to be viewed again. Am I right or am I right?  Well have I got a solution for you... Compile it into a music video! Seems simple enough right? I was in the same boat and wasn't sure what to do with the endless videos of my kids running around doing more or less the same thing in each clip. But I didnt want to delete them! I wanted to hang onto those memories but I also wanted to a better way to do it. So... I started making music videos and it was so easy! It has seriously become one of my favorite hobbies. Putting them together, find music and watching them as a family over and over again is such a fun activity.  Here is an example ...

How to Host a Paint War Party

Image
My family will jump at any opportunity to throw a party, especially one where we can get a tad messy, ok A LOT messy. For example, growing up we LOVED the movie, Hook {I mean obviously...} and being the creative woman that she is, my mom thought it would be awesome to throw my brother a Hook themed birthday party. We had kids dressed up as lost boys, fairies, pirates, etc. "Captain Hook" came and we fought him off for his map and marched around town looking for a special birthday treasure. She made a cake THREE cakes and put them together to look like a crocodile and placed dry ice around him to look like he was swimming. {Can you see where I get my drive for being creative?} Then, the cherry on top was the big food fight we had. If you aren't familiar with the movie, the lost boys have a game to help Peter remember who he is. This game turns into the most epic food fights you've ever seen. Of course this was always one of our favorite scenes. My mom slaved alway all...

Five Ways to be a Better Mom

Image
Many times throughout the year I find myself making resolutions to be a better __________, {fill in the blank: Mom, wife, organizer, cook, etc} not just around New Years. But if you know me, you know I'm not one to skip out on starting anything without a BANG. Resolution wise anyway. {I was totally asleep before midnight this year.} But my main goal is to be a better mom.  So here are my goals on how to be a better Mom this year:     Put down the phone. Too many times throughout the day I find myself scrolling through random Facebook posts about things that don't matter or that I don't even care about. I realized that find myself reaching for my phone when I need a second to mentally check out and those few minutes combined lead to a big chunk of my day. instead of doing this I want to redirect that time. If I still need to check out and give my brain a break from listening and entertaining little ones, maybe I could read a scripture or a couple pages from a...
