Third Baby Essentials
I cant believe how quickly these past seven weeks have flown by! It seems like just yesterday Hendricks was born, and yet he feels like he's been part of our family forever. He has been such a perfect little fella. He eats like a champ, he loves to be held and snuggled. He sleeps.... ok. Haha. As good a you can expect for a newborn anyway. He is starting to coo and make noises and is SMILING. Oh gosh, he's got a little dimple on his left cheek just like his daddy and it gets me right in the heart every time. It's been a bit of a mad house around here lately since graduation, busy toddlers, late night feedings, packing up to move, saying goodbye to friends everyday... (I don't want to talk about it!) Needless to say, this post has been on the back burner for awhile. Since Hendricks makes baby number three, I feel like I've been a lot more lax in what I'd call "essentials." All he REALLY needs is a place to sleep, something to eat and something to poop in. Seriously, all the other stuff just makes our lives easier, am I right or am I right? So here are a few things that have made my life easier....
Third Baby Essentials (age 0-3 months)
1. Aden and Anais Swaddle Blankets
If you havent seen these, I'll assume you live somewhere really hot and blankets would be silly. But I seriously love these because they are lightweight, they double as a burp cloth and are super cute and swaddle lil man like a dream.

I mentioned before that Hendricks likes to be held and when I'm cooking or doing chores and helping little girls with various activities, these wraps are AMAZING. I tried a Moby before and didn't like how thick they felt. Solly Baby Wraps are also lightweight and have darling patterns. They also are awesome for snuggling that newborn close.

3. Copper Pearl Carseat/Nursing Cover
It is WINDY in Iowa. For the past four years I've looked for a decent car seat cover that wouldnt blow off going to and from the car and it's about time I found these things! They are lightweight (Are you seeing a trend here?) They stay on the car seat and dont flip off and blow my baby away. They are super cute (I have an obsession with all things stripes.) AND it can be used as a nursing cover. Can I get a HALLELUJAH? Seriously, multi use items are da bomb.

4. City Select Double Stroller (with Glider Board)
Ok this one was an absolute splurge, but I think it's been worth every penny. When we went to Disneyland with the girls a few years ago, I searched for a good double and everything I tried was hard to maneuver, bulky and awkward. When I found this one, I fell in love. Not only can you adjust the seats, you can also add a glider board and I CAN PUSH ALL THREE KIDS AROUND!
I love it.

5. Rock 'n Play
This one came as a surprise to me. The first night home from the hospital was a nightmare. He didn't seem to like sleeping in his crib. I wasn't comfortable having him sleep in his swing every night and my friend mentioned I should try a rock and play. He still hates his crib, (we are working on that) but he loves the rock and play. It's also LIGHTWEIGHT and super easy to move in case he's napping and I want him close while doing housework.

A good diaper bag is a must and I've learned that the ONLY way to go is a backpack. With Monroe, trying to hold a carseat on one arm, the diaper bag on the other AND hold Paisley's hand seriously messed with my back. But a backpack changed everything! It's easy to clean, doesn't LOOK like a diaper bag and holds a lot of stuff. It is NOT lightweight, I mean, I do have three flippin kids now. ;)
I love you so much! Love how you ended your post! Haha!
ReplyDeleteI have a contours double stroller (similar to yours, but heavier I think) and I LOVE IT! Wish I had a gliding board, though! That would be sa-weet!
Hi Lauren! Which color of bag do you have here in this picture? Is it the brown?
ReplyDeleteHi Stefanie! I have the gray one!
